The sun is shining, the snow is melting, and running shoes and bikes are back on hard pavement. It must be time for another race season! Here's what's coming up.
Glacial Lakes Series
The next race in the series is the Minnewaska Warmup Half Marathon in Glenwood on May 3. This event also includes a 10K and 5K run. Each year the event offers a ton of prize money for a variety of winners including random drawings. You can go to the series website for information about this event and the other races in the series.
Chain of Lakes Sprint Triathlon
The Chain of Lakes Triathlon, May 3 at the Discovery Middle School in Alexandria, is the kickoff event to the Minnesota triathlon season. The eight lane pool will give you a comfortable early season test for your swim with the rest of the course being on some nice roads and trails. This event is administered by the Alexandria Swim Club. Registration will close in late April. No registrations will be taken once it closes. Visit the event website for more information.
Earth Day Run
The 15th annual SCHEELS Earth Day Run is preparing for another year of fantastic fun and entertainment for runners and families. Featured events include the BLEND and Coborn’s 1K Junior Run, St. Cloud Subaru 5K run/walk and Corporate Challenge, and the SCHEELS Half Marathon and the Half Marathon Relay. Young Life Triathlon
Register now for the Young Life Triathlon, August 15-16. Make it a weekend for the family by participating in the 5k Fun Run, Free Kiddie Fun Run & Free Family Fun Night with inflatable games Friday evening, all at the Detroit Lakes City Park and Pavilion. Saturday, join in the Young Life Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons, now in its 11th year of supporting youth ministry in our area. Enter the challenging Olympic distance race or the Sprint distance race, which includes a 500 meter swim, a 20k bike, and a 5k run. Do it yourself or get a team together.
